Hello BG Neighbors 👋

If you’ve driven down Nashville Road lately, you’ve probably noticed the movement — dirt shifting, walls going up, signs hinting at what’s coming next.

And at the same time, something a little quieter is happening downtown — something that won’t change the skyline, but might change how it feels to walk through it.

This week’s issue is about growth — the visible kind and the kind you feel over time.

Because Bowling Green isn’t just getting bigger. It’s becoming something.

Let’s get into it.

🌱 SKyPAC & City Launch Public Art Invitational to Brighten BG’s Streetscapes

Source: WNKY

This week, SKyPAC teamed up with the City of Bowling Green and Warren County to launch the 2026 Public Art Invitational, an exciting new initiative that’s bringing art out of galleries and into everyday public spaces across our city.

The invitational invites artists from around the country — including local and Kentucky-based creators — to submit proposals for large-scale sculptures that will be installed in parks, downtown, and other high-visibility spots throughout Bowling Green.

“This isn’t just about pretty art,” city leaders say. The goal is to activate public spaces, highlight local culture, and give residents and visitors new reasons to explore the places we live, work, and play.

Selected pieces will eventually go up in places like Circus Square Park, Capitol Alley, and along the Chamber Walk, adding color, curiosity, and conversation starters to familiar routes.

And it’s not just visual art — organizers promise the installations will spark community interactions, support local creatives, and make BG’s public places more welcoming and interesting.

❤️ New Businesses Coming:

EverGreen Commons

We love spotlighting local businesses doing cool things or new businesses on there way to BG — this one is worth knowing about.

EverGreen Commons — Coming to Nashville Rd

If you’ve driven down Nashville Road lately, you may have noticed the early signs of something bigger happening.

A 17-acre mixed-use development called Evergreen Commons is officially moving forward — and it’s shaping up to be more than just another retail strip.

Developers say the goal is to create a place where people can actually spend time — not just run errands.

At the center of the project will be a 40,000-square-foot space called “The Lookout.” Plans show a mix of restaurants, retail, and open-air gathering space designed for families, tournament weekends, and those “let’s just go somewhere” evenings.

And yes — there are some names attached.

What’s Coming

Wawa is expected to open in June or July
• A flagship Farmers Bank & Trust location is planned nearby
Cedar Point Apartments are already under construction, with units expected late this year or early next
• And maybe the most unique detail: a 70-foot historic fire tower (originally built in 1916) is being relocated to the property and restored as a lit focal point

Construction on The Lookout is expected to begin in March, with phased openings rolling out throughout the year.

Developers have also said they’re working with city and state officials on traffic flow improvements, including the possibility of a new signal at the entrance.

Why This Matters

This isn’t just another building project.

It’s another signal that Bowling Green’s growth corridor along Nashville Road is continuing to evolve — with more places to eat, gather, and spend time close to home.

If the vision comes together the way it’s being described, this could become one of those spots you meet friends on a random weeknight… or end up at after a long Saturday of youth sports.

We’ll keep you posted as construction moves forward.

❤️ Community Spotlight: Volunteers of the Year Awards — Nominations Now Open

Source: WNKY

The 35th Annual Volunteers of the Year Awards opened nominations this week — a moment that shines a spotlight on the quiet heroes all around us here in Bowling Green and Warren County.

This yearly tradition celebrates residents who give their time and energy without expectation of applause — people who tutor kids, organize drives, coach teams, care for neighbors, and make our community stronger in countless everyday ways.

This year’s awards include categories like:
Anne Grubbs Spirit of Service Award — for long-time individual volunteers
Rising Star Award — for new volunteers already making an impact
Team Spirit Award — honoring groups working together to serve others
Young Leader Award — spotlighting youth volunteers leading the way in our community

Whether you know someone who visits shut-ins, supports local nonprofits, picks up litter after storms, or quietly helps a neighbor in need — this is our chance to nominate them and give them the recognition they deserve.

👉 Nominations are open through March 27, and the awards ceremony is set for April 26 at the Warren County Public Library’s Bob Kirby Branch.

This isn’t about big headlines — it’s about the people who show up again and again, day after day, for Bowling Green. That’s the kind of everyday hero we love celebrating.
